In this raw and vulnerable episode, I share my personal journey through two painful betrayals in the spiritual business world. First, a coach who took our collaborative workshop idea and launched it without me, completely erasing my existence from the creation process.

Then, a student-turned-friend copied my branding and business name so closely that it was undeniable. These experiences crushed me at the time, but ultimately led to my most significant breakthrough.

Through these painful lessons, I discovered something transformative: while others can copy your aesthetic, workshop structure, or even your topics, they can never replicate your framework—the intellectual property that comes from your soul. Diva, let me tell you something you know what really cuts deep. It's not strangers copying you. I wish it's the people you actually trusted. Those are the ones that you invested in, the ones you gave your energy to turning around and stealing your work. Yeah, we've all been there, right? These are the copycats that steal your aesthetic, but guess what? They can never, ever steal your framework, that soul signature that you have. And it's not even about just stealing, it's the audacity of cutting you out of the picture completely when they do it. I guess we've all been through this, and that's why today's topic is about this those copycats that steal your aesthetic, steal your vibe, but they can never, ever steal your framework, that intellectual property that you made, that made it yours.

Speaker 1:

So I'm going to tell you a story. This is a coach that excluded me. I'm not going to mention names, but, yeah, I do think that we need to talk about this, and it's an experience that was very hurtful. Actually, this happened a few years ago, back when I was really taking my coaching business very serious, and it happened while I was not really aware that this can be possible. I know I was so naive. However, it happened, and this is the first time that it happened. I thought that, being in the spiritual business, you will encounter coaches that know that this can always feel hard when you're starting, but unfortunately, this was not the case. She knew exactly what she was doing and I was not aware of the malicious events that were unfolding in front of me. But here we are stronger than ever, with strong intellectual property, and these experiences that we go through only makes us stronger. Right, so let's go into storytelling time.

Speaker 1:

The first time that I experienced this. I had teamed up with a coach. We were brainstorming together, we were vibing, building something that felt very fresh and very powerful. I showed her my plan I know not very bright of me of what I had planned as a, a workshop and due that she was also in the same topic. We decided to build something together.

Speaker 1:

That happened like on a Friday. I was so excited. I thought that this is partnership. This is what others come here to do. Right, you're filling your dharma, you're helping each other, you're in sisterhood. This is us creating magic. Oh, my universe. I was so freaking wrong. And this was on friday, yes.

Speaker 1:

And then on sunday, I was so excited that I teamed up with this coach. That was killing it. And I went to brunch with my girlfriends and I told them hey, I'm teaming up with XXX name. And they stood there watching at me like as if they saw a ghost and they said Jamie, you made a very big mistake. She's going to steal your idea and I'm so sorry. This is what's going to happen. She did it with me, so, with the girl that was telling me, I'm like what are you sure? I know, I'm pretty sure she's a changed person. This does not happen? I mean, we're in the spiritual business? No, I don't think so. But okay, thank you for the heads up. And then the other girl was like uh-huh, she is known for this, but already I was very late. That was on Sunday at brunch, at 12 o'clock-ish more or less.

Speaker 1:

By Monday, this woman, this coach, went live with our workshop, excluding me, not even mentioning that this was our project. No credit, no mention, no acknowledgement that this was our project. No credit, no mention, no acknowledgement. You know the whole bang. It was like I never existed in the process of me showing her what I was planning to do, which is very stupid of me. But yeah, that happened already and I learned my lesson the very hard way.

Speaker 1:

And let me tell you something it was very hard, very, very hard for me to experience that I was crushed, actually because I was naive, not thinking that people can do so many malicious things at that moment in time, being that they're in the spiritual world, right, I felt like I was being betrayed, which I was at the deepest level. Betrayed, which I was at the deepest level. And because, you know, when you open your heart and you share your genius and someone takes it and shuts it down. The drain in front of you shuts the door in your face, that wound. Let me tell you something it cuts different. It cuts very, very, very, very different.

Speaker 1:

I had to process that. I went through a very dark moment because I had to see the whole project manifest in front of me. And she was very good at it, because she is very good at her job. She's very good at being narcissistic and not gaslighting and all of that. But unfortunately, not everybody gets to see that. And without bad talking, this is just facts. I I'm so sorry, it is what it is right. Sometimes there's facts and sometimes there's bad talking, but that's not the case.

Speaker 1:

This experience really, really cut deep at that moment and I came to realize that I had to make a shift. That's when I began to questioning myself. You know what we call the emotional reflection. I'm so naive for trusting. Shall I even bother sharing my ideas? That's what I thought. Shall I just keep on sharing and not really thinking of overthinking actually? But at the end I said, no, you have to trust, because that's your line of work, but set those boundaries.

Speaker 1:

And another reflection was that they can steal your idea, but never, ever, your framework. That's your framework, that's your intellectual property that you created, and they can steal the depth of it. Right, so that experience came out for the positive and everything that resulted from it. Right, they can steal the years that you invested in because, at the end, it's your responsibility for setting boundaries. So, leaving that mental and victim mentality aside, it's your responsibility for setting boundaries. So, leaving that mental and victim mentality aside, it was my responsibility for actually oversharing and, yes, now you have strong boundaries.

Speaker 1:

It made me realize that the inner work that birthed the idea in the first place can never be replaced, because that's something that comes from you, that's your soul signature. They may have grabbed the fruit, but it still had the roots. Therefore, these are just only lessons learned and karma will come to everybody. We are not going to miss out on that. Therefore, thank you for having me go through this experience, because it only made me realize and how I do not want to be exposed or how I do not want to be as a human being, let alone a spiritual business coach. Right, and then, from this experience, as if it was not enough, like maybe a few months after the second copycat came and wow, this was another heavy point in my life because I did not see this coming. I mean, this human saw me go through all of this with the first one. So I thought that, hey, you know sharing my story, being so open and being so emotional about it, because at that time I didn't know how to process these emotions. I was just in shock with such a big betrayal and having this human being, my student, that turned into a friend. I was not expecting that this could have happened, but this time it wasn't the coach, it was a student that turned friend and someone that I had guided, someone I poured into, that I really believed that will not do such things to me. We had become friends. I thought that this is loyalty, that we can trust each other which I always and for a relationship having fully trust. Until that trust is not the case anymore, that trust gets cut.

Speaker 1:

One day she started her own company, which I encouraged her, of course, because I wanted to start working with her and she named it almost identical to mine. Can you believe that? The name, the branding, the vibe, it was just way too close and I can't lie, my chest was very heavy. I tried to have a conversation with her. She didn't care, she didn't want it to talk to me and, as I explained, you know that let's change your name. She did At the end. It was even worse at the end. It was even worse because this wasn't some stranger on the internet. I mean, this was someone who had been in my circle, someone I trusted with my name. With my name I mean my reputation to be around with my time, my teachings, my energy, and I share from a place, from my heart you know I have. I have a big heart, and I didn't expect this coming, literally, from a friend. No, no, no, no, no.

Speaker 1:

And that moment I was like okay, jamie, what is this lesson teaching you? Do I just disappear now? Do I stop creating? What do I do? So my lawyer told me something very, very crucial with this. She told me Jamie, drop the name. Drop the name. This is not about ego, because I know that you are not egocentric. Let your name shine. The world will know your name Jamie Barreño. And I said you know what? You're right? You're right Because I lawyered up. Of course, I was mad, I was furious, to be honest, and she told me no, you know, I can tell you. Yes, let's make a case, but why that will just cost you money and cause you stress and spend that money in your business and that energy on creating content. And I really thank her for that creating content and I really thank her for that. I really really thank her for that time that she took and taking that deep moment of reflection with me, seeing me so how desperate I was and telling me to just let it go. And I did.

Speaker 1:

And this is when I shifted this energy and this power. This energy and this power and here is what I know now that they can copy the look, they can copy your workshop, your program, they can even copy the topics that you talk, but they can never copy the framework, that soul signature that you created for your students to go through, because the framework isn't just a vibe, it's literally your lived truth, your philosophy, your art history. This is what you explained, this is what you went through and this is what you created. It's the intellectual property that comes from your soul. Let it sink in. It's the intellectual property that comes from your soul.

Speaker 1:

And that's when I made the decision. Instead of getting bitter, I was going to get better. Instead of trying to fight for credit, I was going to build. What made me untouchable Right made me untouchable right, and this is when your intellectually property really becomes important. So what I did was that this experience brought me down to making my own programs, my own methods, my own teachings, and placing them into intellectual property, getting them actually certified. That's what they are in the process at this moment and that's when I doubled down on building the Diva Method. It's one of the methods that I teach inside Luxada Mentorship, not just a catchy name, but a step-by-step program where we talk about deconditioning, we talk about inner alchemy, inner wisdom, mirroring all of the good stuff, helping you get seen, placing that vision and really going after your dreams, actually all the beautiful things that come in life. And that's when Luxata stopped being just a program and became a philosophy right, a whole world. What I say is it became a movement, and that's what we teach inside Luxada. We mentor, we make these amazing leaders who are in their zone of genius, enter their diva era, their wealthy era, and lead movements by healing their inner child, healing their lineage and just making pure magic.

Because while people were busy copying you, you are now building a legacy that is being not possible to replicate. As easy as that. And let me tell you something else, why this works, even, let's say, on a brain level, as I speak. Humans copy. It's normal, it's how we learn. Neuroscientists call it mirroring that's a fancy word. We watch, we repeat, we internalize. That's why kids mimic their parents. That's why you pick up someone, slang after we come together. You know the drill. But here's the thing their brain doesn't just mirror, it actually creates novelty. It craves it. Because we're humans. Novelty lights up the brain reward system.

Speaker 1:

Actually, original ideas get tagged as important. You file them. That's why, when you create something truly coming from you, you name the method, a unique framework. People remember it. They just don't scroll past, they stop and they lean in. That's where you want to be my love. Copycats blend in, but you, you are the originator that break through. You break through and you become unstoppable. You become the woman who entered the chat room. That's how powerful you become.

Speaker 1:

All right, so let's go through a few steps on why intellectual property makes you untouchable. The first one because depth, of course, can never be faked Like hello. Aesthetics are very easy to make. Depth is earned through lived experiences. Again, lived experiences. Again. Aesthetics are easy. Depth is earned through lived experiences, reflections and proof. That's what you are. You are living proof. You go in depth, and depth can never, ever be faked.

Speaker 1:

Second, your intellectual property becomes compound. One framework can become a course, a book, a certification, a membership you name it and it is yours. It becomes a compound effect, same as money. You are well invested through that framework. Third, your IP commands respect and pricing. This is when your high-level clients come in. You're not just selling time with you, you're selling a proven system that gets results. That's premium. Hello, that's pure awesomeness, right? And I tell you to spend this time on reflecting on how can I make my programs into intellectual property. That's when your legacy begins to unfold, right? So let's keep it real.

Speaker 1:

Thinking of all of this, when this happens I mean there's a lot of factors that come in it shakes your nervous system. You feel unsafe. Of course, you feel also betrayed. Your body reacts like it's under attack and it does feel like real, and I've been there and I've cried the tears, I felt the panic, but you know what the real, real flex is here. Not dragging them online, not screaming for credit, because, believe me, I wanted to do a lot, but I remain quiet and until now, in the past, this happened. Let me think, three or four years ago and I'm talking about it now. Imagine and this is just to protect my peace, while I protect my property. Now that I have my intellectual properties, I feel safe. Now I went to therapy and I did the inner work that I feel calm, that I can talk about it without affecting me, because when you regulate your nervous system, you stop reacting and start building. That's how powerful it is. You reclaim what is yours. This is a choice. This is a choice that you make, and by making a choice is giving yourself that power right. So let that reflect in for a moment.

Speaker 1:

If you ever been copied, I want you to hear me and repeat after me. They copied your look. You are building your language. They may have copied your moment, but you're building your movement. They may have copied your last post, but you're building now your legacy. Copycats can steal your aesthetic, but they can never, ever steal your framework. They can steal everything but your soul signature. That's yours, yours, that's your unique method. They can't steal a regulated nervous system and they can't steal your authenticity and diva. That part is what makes you unforgettable. Remember that you are unforgettable. All All right. I hope that today's episodes bring some enlightenment in you to never, ever, give up on your dreams and remember if they copy you, it's because you're doing something amazing. You are amazing.

If I didn't have money, I will not be able to pay all the thousands and dollars in therapy that I spend on my son and I see this with a lot of people For not having funds, a lot of things they cannot be able to pay, and this is not even materialistic stuff. This is just basic stuff in order to have a big quality of life. So let's organize ourselves and turn this pain into intellectual property, and this is exactly what I do inside Luxada Mentorship.
