Fiercely, You!

Ep.12| Stop Diluting Your Energy: Why Focus Changes Everything

Jamie Bareno Season 1 Episode 12

The One Goal Method transforms our lives by focusing our energy on a single priority rather than diluting it across multiple areas. When we choose one bold goal, our energy compounds, our focus sharpens, and we build momentum that naturally spills over into other areas of life.

• Chasing multiple goals simultaneously leads to burnout and scattered focus
• Our brains can only handle so many "open loops" before becoming overwhelmed
• Focusing on one goal creates a compounding effect of attention and energy
• What looks like "doing less" actually creates more powerful results
• The One Goal Method involves three steps: analyzing your current life, breaking your goal into 12-week sprints, and creating an accountability ritual
• When you win in one area, the confidence and momentum naturally transfer to other areas
• Health should be prioritized because without it, nothing else matters

Grab my Gold Diggers Quarterly Planner to help you track your one bold goal as you break it down into 12-week sprints and finish this year strong. The link is in the show notes.

Speaker 1:

Today's episode is something I wish I was told at the beginning of my journey. For years, I was addicted to chasing all the goals at once. You know the drill the ambitious woman who really wants to do everything. I was working on my body. I wanted to expand the business, even though I was going through a massive recovery in the burnout. I wanted to build up my finances. Of course, I wanted to still maintain the lifestyle that I promised myself, and the most important part was that I was trying to heal my nervous system. But here's the catch All at the same time. And do you know what happened? Of course, I burned out even more because at that moment in time, I was so overwhelmed so I had to make a decision. And that moment in time, I was so overwhelmed so I had to make a decision and not stay in the hustling mode and end up thinking, okay, I have to do something about this. And I sat there in my couch. I remember thinking what am I going to do? I asked myself a thought and I have it written here what if the reason I feel behind is because I'm not working hard enough, but because I'm working on too much? That was like an aha moment, because I wanted it all, but I was not being focused on one single goal or one single outcome. And that was the moment I discovered the power of the one goal method. And I share this because I think this is very, very, very important for all of us. And this has nothing to do only with business. And I say nothing because if you don't have health, you don't have nothing. It is mostly related to your personal life One goal, one goal and one goal only, and if you have that as a priority, everything else will fall in place. So let's dig into this topic.

Speaker 1:

When we chase multiple goals at the same time, we are diluting our energy. Our focus becomes scattered, we can't think properly, we are all over the place, your nervous system gets overwhelmed, so you go into survival mode and, instead of building this amazing momentum that you have, you become not only overwhelmed, but you stall out. You don't have a plan, you're all over. You don't have a strategy and it becomes a lot. Now think about it like this If you pour water into five different cups, none of them will get full right, but if you pour all of that water that you have into one single cup, it overflows. That's what happens when you choose one bold goal. Your energy compounds, your focus becomes sharp and it helps you stay focused on that one main goal, and then you can finally enter momentum again.

Speaker 1:

And this is when I realized that I was not only losing it mentally, but also on a physical level. I mean, I've been out for, at that time, two years no, one year and a half-ish, let me think one year and nine months and every time I wanted to come back, I was just so overwhelmed and I was on medication, so it took a long time for me to just sit down and think properly. But this is when something really hit me. That was my turning point. I remember this was in September. I had this massive list of things I wanted to accomplish before the end of the year. I wanted to do so much. I wanted to come back to my social media platforms. I wanted to get consistent with my gym routine. I wanted to be a super present mommy.

Speaker 1:

After a few weeks of trying it all, I found myself exhausted again, staring at my to-do list like it was my biggest enemy of all. My to-do list, like it was my biggest enemy of all. Therefore, that night I remember making a decision no-transcript, just one. And then I told myself okay, this is it, this is where my energy goes for the next 12 weeks. Everything else is a bonus. Now the funnier part comes. These 12 weeks end up being 12 months and I can positively and confidently say that I did it. I did it in 12 weeks.

Speaker 1:

I hired a mentor, my lovely Parmese I am so grateful for her and I entered her mentorship program and from here, I decided that I'm going to take care of myself first and everything else becomes second. Because health is wealth and this is where I am spending my energy. And because I wasn't spread too thin, I actually had the energy left over to move the areas forward too. So that's when I realized less isn't lazy, less is power. And I repeat this, and it's because I wasn't spreading myself too thin. I actually had the energy left over to move the other areas forward too, and this is what I call the other areas is that because I was taking care of my mental health, I was taking care of my body, I was trying to eat healthier, I was being a present mom, I was literally doing everything that society tells you to do to relax the nervous system. And it felt amazing. And that's when I realized that, hey, you have the power to make big moves without a timeline, because that 12 weeks turned into 12 months, but it was the best decision that I could have made.

Speaker 1:

Now, when you focus on one goal, you tap into something called the compounding effect of attention. Now, newer science shows us that our brain can only handle so many open loops. I call this, like these taps on the computer handle so many open loops. I call this, like these taps on the computer. Every extra goal is another open loop draining your energy in the background. But when you close those loops and focus on one thing and one thing only, your brain, your body, your nervous system, they all align behind that one outcome. And when you win in one area, the confidence and momentum oof that's on another level will literally spill in every other area of life. That's how one bold goal can unlock everything else. And in your life, it was amazing to see that when you go all in on one goal, the outcome is just massive.

Speaker 1:

Now, how do you apply one goal? So here's what I want you to do. Step one look at your life right now, make an analysis, write it down, circle one goal you want to accomplish before the end of the year or however you want to do. I don't care, as long as you write it down and analyze at your current life at this moment in time. Now, as last week's episode, you break it down into 12 week sprints. Don't overthink, just do. And then that's what's going to help you. In 90 days, so many things can happen. And then you evaluate if this is something that you want to continue or again change the timeline.

Speaker 1:

That's step two, to breaking down into 12-week sprints. Step three is anchor yourself with one accountability, one ritual. This can be anything that makes you feel good, so, for example, journaling every morning, or focusing on affirmations, or really setting those intentions in through meditation, or you could even use a planner to track down your weekly wins and I have one, so I'll link in the bio and maybe give yourself the structure to stay with this focus and everything else will fall into place. Now imagine you're going through all of this right, you set that goal and now it's December 31st, you're getting ready for the new year and, instead of thinking I should have, I could have, you are freaking proud. You're proud because you stick to that one goal. You did the thing you said you will do. You feel accomplished. You're carrying momentum into the new year instead of starting from zero or feeling any regrets.

Speaker 1:

That's the power of one goal. That's the power of choosing less, because you're creating more right. So I leave you with this one goal. My loves, what's the one goal you refuse to leave behind in 2025? Decide it and then so shall it be. Write it down, give yourself permission to go all in and, if you need a tool to help you stay focused. That's exactly why I created my quarterly planner, the Gold Diggers Quarterly Planner I even like the name the Gold Diggers to help you track your one bold goal as you break it down into 12-week sprints and finish this year strong. The link is in the show notes. But, planner or no planner, today is the day you decide right, because less isn't failure, less is power and less is how you finally create momentum and you build that dream life that you wanted.
